Progress on the controversial bill to authorize a casino in Fairfax County was halted on the afternoon of 2-12-2025, following a vote of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Agriculture, Commerce, and Natural Resources. The action on the casino bill, SB982, patroned by Senate Majority Leader Scott Surovell appears to effectively end the campaign by a local developer, Christopher Clemente, to locate a gaming casino on properties he controls on a location in Tysons.
The No Fairfax Casino Coalition extends our deepest gratitude to Senator Jennifer Boysko, whose bold, decisive leadership led the opposition to this casino bill. Of significance, we acknowledge the thousands of Fairfax County residents who signed petitions opposing the bill, wrote members of the General Assembly, donated to the fight, planted yard signs, attended our rallies and travelled numerous times to Richmond in order to voice opposition."
The No Fairfax Casino Coalition will continue to monitor the status of this legislation and is preparing for any future similar casino legislation.
The casino issue is not dead. Join with other Fairfax County citizens in telling our state legislators and the Board of Supervisors to say NO.
